Slezáčková, Alena ; Blatný, Marek ; Kepák, T.
We analyzed the impact of child’s oncological disease on parent’s quality of life (QoL). 120 parents of childhood cancer survivors 2 to 9 years after the treatment entered the study within 2006-2009. We used free responses method for description and subjective evaluation of positive and negative influence of child’s illness on particular domains of family life. Content analysis was used for analyzing the statements. Main positive and negative impacts of child’s illness on parent’s QoL were identified. Basic domains of posttraumatic growth PTG (changed self-perception , new possibilities, changes in interpersonal relations and spirituality, greater respect for life) and their bio-psycho-social determinants were distinguished. Statistically significant relations with the predominance of given positive aspects over negative ones were determined with respect to respondents’ age, time lapsed from the completion of active treatment and seriousness of late effects of child’s treatment.
Polytomous IRT models and their usage in personality diagnostic
Jelínek, Martin ; Květon, Petr ; Vobořil, Dalibor
The presented study describes basic types IRT (item response theory) models for polytomous items. Graded response model and its modifications, partial credit model, rating scale model, and nominal response model are discussed. The usage of graded response model and generalized partial credit model is illustrated on the example of Rosenberg’s self-esteemscale. Although these two models differ in their concept, the actual trait estimates (self-esteem) are basically the same.
Emotional and social intelligence in health weakened and disabled adolescents
Karaffová, Eva ; Baumgartner, František
The concept of intelligence is currently linked to different theoretical meanings, as well as conceptual ambiguity of the construct. It is shown to the importance of the analysis of the relationships of emotional intelligence in terms of the model as the personality feature and also to the abilities towards social competences which are very important in early adolescence. Understanding the concept of emotional intelligence is not uniform and there is some overlap with the concept of social intelligence. This paper deals with relationships of emotional intelligence as personality feature and social intelligence. The data were obtained in the selection of health weakened and disabled adolescents through a Trait Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire (TEIQue) and the range of the Tromso Social Intelligence Scale (TSIS).
Slovak Tango: Perception of Slovak Personality Characteristics
Hřebíčková, Martina ; Kouřilová, Sylvie
The study focuses on national stereotype of Slovaks and its comparison with Czech, German, Austrian and Polish stereotypes. Over 4,136 Czech university students and 100 adults in eight subsamples from different parts of the Czech Republic rated five “typical country representatives” on National Character Survey Results indicated that the typical Slovak is perceived the same way across groups of respondents. The second goal of our study was to compare Slovak auto- (ratings by Slovaks) and heterotereotypes (ratings by Czechs). We found no correspondence between perceptions of a typical Slovak from an ingroup and outgroup perspective. Our third goal was to compare stereotypical profiles of the five countries’ representatives based on ratings from Czech respondents. We found that the profile of a typical Slovak corresponds with the profile of a typical Pole, while profile of a typical German corresponds with the profile of a typical Austrian.
Sport as a protective factor in the adolescent development
Kubišová, A. ; Blatný, Marek
In our research we have compared the differencies in the area of developmental psychopatology between adolescent sportsmen and common adolescent, who do not do any kind of sport. In this research we have used the SAHA questionnaire, that surveys hazards of adolescent development. We have chosen spectra from the area of externalized and internalized psychopatology that were suitable for our purposes. Specimen of 103 pupils of the regional elementary schools focused on extended ice-hockey training represented the group of sportsmen. Specimen of 567 coevals from the same regions obtained by administration of SAHA questionnaire in 2004 represented the group of common population. In our research we have used Mann-Whitney test, that is non-parametric form of t-test, to find out the differencies between both groups. Ice-hockey players scored on the spectra of the area of externalized psychopatology including the problematical and deliquent behaviour more than the representants of common population.
